Is this you?

Mornings hit hard, the silence where a voice or text used to be.

Holidays and anniversaries feel like walking around a bruise.

You’re tired of feeling judged for how you grieve (too much, not enough, too long).

You want to remember and keep living, without drowning in guilt or “shoulds.”

Weekly therapy helps, but you need focused time to move something bigger.

What is a Grief Therapy Intensive?

A short, structured period of deeper therapy, designed for grief. Instead of stopping and starting each week, we set aside 3 hours per day for 1–3 days to work with what’s most stuck, at a pace your nervous system can handle.

Your intensive is built for you; honoring your pace, needs, and personal path.

Together we’ll choose from:

  • IFS (Internal Family Systems): work compassionately with protective and wounded parts

  • Brainspotting: process where the body holds experience

  • EMDR: support reprocessing of stuck memories

  • Yoga & yogic philosophy: breath, movement, and meaning

  • Journaling: reflect and integrate between sessions

  • Mindfulness: build present-moment awareness

  • Somatic practices: settle and resource the nervous system

  • Nature-/plant-based practices: connect with steadiness and care

How it helps: more clarity around the layers of your loss, gentler self‑talk, rituals that fit your culture and values, and a realistic plan for the moments that still ache.

How Does Grief Intensive Work?

  • We start by meeting for a 90-minute introductory session to explore your unique experience of grief, clarify your therapeutic goals, and identify areas where you're seeking healing and relief. I’ll gently guide you through questions to understand your story, strengths, and specific needs, so we can create a supportive, personalized plan for your Intensive.

  • Based on your story and the goals we identify together, I’ll create a personalized workbook designed specifically to prepare you for your Intensive. Completing this workbook in advance helps maximize the benefits of our sessions, allowing you to enter the Intensive ready to experience deeper emotional clarity, healing, and meaningful shifts.

  • Each Intensive Session lasts 3 hours, intentionally designed to allow you to explore your grief at a deeper level using the compassionate and transformative approach of Internal Family Systems (IFS). Intensives offer an accelerated path toward emotional healing and clarity. You can schedule between one to three Intensive sessions—no more than three per week—to maintain balance and integration.

  • After completing your Intensive sessions, we’ll meet for a 60-minute follow-up to reflect on your experience and the shifts you've noticed. Together, we’ll identify any remaining emotional needs and develop a personalized plan to help you integrate your new insights, emotional clarity, and skills into everyday life, empowering you to confidently move forward.

Why this works

  • Deeper focus, fewer resets: longer sessions reduce the start/stop of weekly therapy.

  • Momentum with care: intensive time can move what’s stuck while we pace with your nervous system.

  • Culturally responsive & trauma‑informed: we consider identity, context, and community: not one‑size‑fits‑all.

Questions?

FAQs

    • A Therapy Intensive is a focused, deeply personalized session (typically 3–4 hours per day over 1–3 days), allowing you to quickly address and process complex issues without interruption.

    • A typical 45–60 minute session provides regular, ongoing support on a weekly basis but limits the amount of deep work due to shorter duration.

  • Great question! This depends on your goals. Some goals can be reached in a single-day intensive (3 hours), while more complex issues often benefit from 2–3 days.

During your consultation, we can determine the best length of intensive to meet your specific needs.

  • Therapy Intensives are more effective and efficient than standard sessions. In a 50-minute session, you often lose time with check-ins and wrap-ups, leaving only 30–40 minutes for deep therapeutic work.

A 3-hour Therapy Intensive allows for approximately 2.5 hours of focused therapeutic processing—the equivalent of five 50-minute sessions, or over a month of therapy, in just a single day!

  • Everyone’s experience is unique, but it’s common to feel emotionally or physically tired for a few days afterward due to the depth of processing. Many participants also report experiencing greater emotional stability, increased clarity, improved communication in relationships, and feeling significantly better equipped to navigate life’s challenges.

  • Absolutely! Therapy Intensives work very well alongside your current therapy. I typically ask you to sign a Release of Information form so your primary therapist and I can coordinate and collaborate to provide you seamless care.

  • Please contact me directly or schedule a consultation call so we can discuss pricing details specific to your customized Intensive plan.

  • Everything listed above: pre‑intensive, workbook, intensive day(s), and post‑intensive.

  • That’s completely understandable! Let’s schedule a free consultation call. I’m happy to answer your questions, learn about your unique situation, and explore whether a Therapy Intensive could benefit you.

  • Therapy Intensives are typically not covered by insurance. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company may reimburse part of the Intensive fee.

It’s helpful to call the customer service number on your insurance card to ask:

    • Do I have a deductible for out-of-network services?

    • Have I met my deductible?

    • What CPT billing codes do you reimburse (such as 90837)?

    • What's the rate and allowable reimbursement amount?

Here’s a helpful resource: The Complete Guide to Out-Of-Network Reimbursement.

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is due at booking to reserve your Therapy Intensive dates. The remaining 50% is due at the start of your first Intensive session.

  • Deposits are non‑refundable. If illness or emergency arises, we’ll look for the next available date.
