Internal Family Systems Therapy

Healing from the inside out—one part at a time.

Do you ever feel like different parts of you are pulling in opposite directions?

Maybe one part wants connection while another fears it. Or perhaps you long for rest, but an inner voice insists on pushing through. You’re not alone—and there’s a reason it feels this way. Inside each of us is a rich inner world of “parts,” each trying to protect us, each carrying its own story.

IFS therapy helps you make sense of this inner world and bring it into harmony—so you can live with more clarity, confidence, and compassion.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a gentle, yet deeply transformative model of therapy that views the mind as made up of “parts”—distinct inner voices or subpersonalities that each hold unique feelings, beliefs, and roles. At the center of this inner world is your Self—a calm, compassionate, and wise core that is always present, even if it sometimes feels hard to access.

Rather than trying to silence or eliminate these parts, IFS helps you build a respectful, curious relationship with them. Every part has a purpose, even if its actions feel confusing or overwhelming. Through therapy, we work to understand these parts, help them release pain or burdens, and restore inner harmony.

In IFS, we help you:

  • Recognize the parts of you that are carrying pain or fear

  • Understand the protectors that work hard to keep you safe

  • Access your Self to offer healing and leadership within.

IFS is non-judgmental, collaborative, and deeply respectful. It meets you where you are and invites every part of you to be seen, heard, and supported.

How IFS Works

IFS therapy unfolds in a few gentle, intuitive steps:

Getting to Know Your Parts

We begin by tuning into what’s showing up—thoughts, feelings, patterns. You’ll start to notice different parts with different roles, like your inner critic, people-pleaser, or overwhelmed one.

Connecting to the Self

Through the process, you access your Self—the calm, wise core of you that can truly listen and lead. This Self becomes the healing presence within your system.

Building Relationships Within

With curiosity and compassion, we explore what each part wants you to know. You’ll learn that even your most frustrating parts are trying to help in some way.

Healing and Unburdening

When your parts feel safe, they can release old burdens, roles, or pain they’ve been carrying for years. This is where transformation happens—and you begin to feel more whole.

Why I Use IFS in My Practice

I use IFS because it honors the full complexity of being human. It’s gentle and non-pathologizing—meaning no part of you is “bad” or broken. It helps clients move beyond insight into real, felt healing.

IFS is especially powerful for:

  • People who feel stuck in cycles of anxiety, self-criticism, or shame

  • Those recovering from trauma, including spiritual or identity-based wounds

  • Highly sensitive individuals who feel deeply and process richly

  • Anyone seeking more self-trust, inner peace, and emotional clarity

IFS isn’t about fixing you—it’s about reconnecting you with your natural inner wisdom.
